Volume Enhancement

What are Volume Enhancement?

Volume Enhancement are substance/gels injected beneath the surface of the skin to smooth wrinkles and boost volume. It works by drawing in water, resulting in an augmentation of the skin which reduces the wrinkle in the treated area. Volume Enhancement are completely biodegradable and as a result non-permanent, with results lasting around one to two years.

How does it work and is it painful?

Generally, basic volume enhancement procedures have a local anaesthetic property so require no pre-surgical preparation.

The procedure involves only a few tiny injections directly into the affected skin, taking only 15 – 30 minutes. Make-up can be applied directly after so you can go straight back to work. Results are also immediate but improve further over the next 2 – 4 weeks and can last between 9 – 18 months.

We recommend regular treatments if you wish to lengthen the lifespan of your treatments.

Are volume enhancement safe?

Reduction of Wrinkles

Wrinkle Causes

As we know, wrinkles occur as a result of facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, squinting etc. As we age, these wrinkles become more apparent as a result of an increase in depth and size.

Wrinkle relaxers are essentially a purified protein. When injected into specialised areas, they form a barrier between the nerves and muscles which stops the muscle from contracting and forming/enhancing wrinkles.

Considerations and Safety

Certain conditions such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and people with some neurological muscle conditions need to avoid muscle relaxing injections. Consult a health professional to find out if wrinkle relaxers are right for you. We will also not perform any cosmetic injections on persons under 18 years of age.

Pre-care for muscle relaxants?

Exercise is not recommended on the day of your treatment. Exercise increases blood flow, which can increase the chance of bruising. Also, Exercise increases your metabolic rate which can hinder the effectiveness of your treatment.

Some clients who do not respond well to relaxants initially can find it is better to not exercise for up to a week before treatment. Find what works for you and make it a standard routine for best results.

What's involved in my consultation?

Firstly, you will complete a medical questionnaire, which will then be discussed.

You will then discuss with a specialist what you wish to achieve from the treatment and have a facial assessment.

A treatment plan will then be completed and discussed. Our treatment plans can be tailored to specific needs.

The area of treatment will be photographed before treatment, as this helps us assess the effectiveness of the injections. This helps us to see how individual clients respond to treatment and adjust accordingly.

Our injections are performed using a very fine insulin needle, after the area is iced numb. The injection itself is less painful than waxing.

Post-care for muscle relaxant?

Avoid exercise for at least 4 hours after treatment. The relaxants take a bit of time to fully absorb, and exercise can hinder absorption.

Avoid pressure on the area for at least 4 hours. Our injections are placed into very specific areas, and pressure can make the proteins spread to muscles we did not want to weaken. We would recommend not lying down and falling asleep, as you may roll onto the affected area.

Are the results instant?

Reduction of wrinkles average 3 to 7 days to work. In rare cases it can take up to 14 days to work, so always wait 2 weeks before deciding whether or not it has worked for you.

How long do the effects of treatment last?

Usually, treatments last 3 to 4 months. This can vary from person to person, and even vary with different treatments on the same person. Certain factors such as dosage, client metabolism, and treatment history may have an effect on how long relaxants last.

Studies show improvements happen regularly with more treatments. 50% of 1st time clients still had improvement after 4 months. After 6 treatments, that number jumps to 80%!

What safety concerns are there?

Reduction of wrinkles have been used regularly for almost 40 years and have very little side effects. A health professional will inform you of the safest dose for your desired outcomes. All treatments use a very small and safe dose. Follow the pre and post-care instructions for the safest outcome.
